About Us

Jansen & Palmer was formed by Jenneane Jansen and Kris Palmer in 2009. Erica Strohl joined the firm in summer 2013. Ms. Jansen and Mr. Palmer are 1993 graduates, and Ms. Strohl is a 1997 graduate, of the University of Minnesota Law School. Our clients are individuals, small companies, insurers, and organizations representing consumers and businesses in Minnesota and throughout the country.

Our Philosophy

Justice lies in the hidden details. We dig deeply into the evidence and the law to find our client’s strengths and the opponent’s weaknesses. We further advise clients on the vulnerabilities of their own positions, and the odds and the types of success they may reasonably expect. We also provide clients with the approximate cost to get their case through the various stages of trial or appeal.

Jenneane Jansen

Focuses on appellate and significant motion practice, particularly in insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, and administrative law. She frequently teams with trial lawyers and general counsel, and has successfully represented parties in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Circuits, as well as state and federal courts in Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. She has written or ghost-written appeals and significant motions in a variety of subject areas, including administrative law, insurance law, construction law, medical malpractice defense, dental malpractice defense, attorney malpractice defense, professional and other licensing matters, criminal law, corporate governance, municipal law, school law, commercial litigation and products liability litigation. She was an appellate law clerk, worked for the appeals branch of the Minnesota State Public Defender’s Office, and was a partner in an 80-attorney firm, where she spent eleven years in the appellate and insurance-coverage groups. She has been voted a Superlawyer by her peers more than a dozen times and has also been named one of the top 50 women lawyers and top 25 appellate lawyers in the state. She and partner Kris Palmer formed Jansen & Palmer, LLC in 2009.

Kris Palmer

Has written and ghost-written briefs, pleadings and major motions in the district, appellate and Supreme Courts of Minnesota, in the federal district and appellate courts, and in proceedings before immigration judges and the Board of Immigration Appeals. He has a strong writing and journalism background and enjoys finding and telling the story behind his clients’ cases. Thorough research is part of his approach to any complex matter, including carefully reviewing the evidence to find the subtle details that can shape a judge’s or jury’s sense of a party’s entitlement to justice. Kris is the editor of West’s Encyclopedia of American Law (1st Edition), Constitutional Amendments 1789 to the Present, plus over 100 books about law, cars and motorcycles. He is also the author of five books, including the automotive bestseller, Dream Garages, and the New-York-Times-praised, Survivor, The Unrestored Collector Car. He has written hundreds of articles for newspapers and magazines, along with 20 years of written advocacy for clients.
